Employees of NCTV and National Police Arrested on Suspicion of Leaking Dutch State Secrets

The Netherlands – Two suspects, a 64-year-old man from Rotterdam and a 35-year-old woman from Gouda, were arrested on Thursday, October 26, 2023, under the suspicion of possessing and disseminating state secrets.

The male suspect is an employee of the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security (NCTV) and also carries out tasks for the National Police’s Central Unit. The female suspect is a former employee of the NCTV and has recently started working with the police.

Both individuals were brought before a magistrate on Tuesday, October 31, and have been remanded in custody for 14 days. The suspects are under restrictive conditions, meaning they are only allowed to have contact with their legal representatives.

The investigation, spearheaded by the Dutch national investigation team and overseen by the National Public Prosecutor’s Office, is currently in full swing. Searches have been conducted in multiple locations. Due to the ongoing investigation, no further details can be disclosed at this time.
