Vixen Panda APT Group suspected of targeting foreign ministry in cyberattack

CYBERWARZONE – A Chinese hacker group, Vixen Panda, is suspected of targeting the Foreign Ministry in a recent cyber attack.

As per a new report by Euractiv, the hackers showed a keen interest in policy documents.

Two servers communicating with servers of foreign ministries in various European countries were targeted by the hackers.

Last week, a ministry spokesperson had said that the attack on foreign ministries in several countries originated from a third country.

On Wednesday, Foreign Ministry State Secretary Samuel Žbogar was questioned by parliamentarians about the attack.

While Žbogar could not confirm the alleged Chinese involvement, the investigation into the attack is still underway.

Although the Ministry’s IT system was immediately shut down after the attack, it is still being cleaned up.

According to Žbogar, the Chinese ambassador has not been contacted yet, as there is no confirmation about which country is behind the attack.
