An American hospital has warned 4400 hospital patients about the fact that their personal information might have been stolen since cybercriminals gained unauthorized access to the American hospital environment.
According to the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville attackers were able to compromise the user names and passwords of employees.
The cybercriminals used phishing-methods to gain trick unaware users into providing the cybercriminals access to the hospital environment.
The hospital stresses that the attackers had no access to individual medical records. The hospital is now working with the email service provider to see if they can secure the hospital better.
