U.S. dermatologist company warns 13000 clients after ransomware hack

An American dermatologist has warned 13,000 patients after a server with their private data was encrypted by ransomware. On the server were patient names, addresses, birth dates, social security numbers, health insurance information, medical records and invoices.

In addition, the dermatologist says his practice has taken steps to prevent further incidents. The infection was observed on June 27, but the patient data would have run a risk from June 19th. This week, all patients were warned about the incident.
