Twitter Limits to Thwart Data Scraping

Estimated read time 2 min read

There’s been a bit of a shake-up on Twitter. None other than Elon Musk himself has come forward with a new measure aimed at tackling rampant data scraping and system manipulation.

The Musk Maneuver

As it stands, Twitter is facing some pretty intense challenges. One of the biggest offenders? You guessed it: data scraping. It’s become such a significant issue that Musk has decided to take some firm actions. And his plan of action is not what you’d typically expect.

Going by the Book – Account Verification

Now, let’s get down to the brass tacks. Verified accounts – those with that iconic little blue tick – are going to see some changes. They will now be limited to reading just 6000 posts each day. Yes, you read that right. Six thousand. It’s a drastic move, but it’s clear that Twitter means business.

Unverified Accounts – The Short Straw

And what about unverified accounts, you ask? Well, they’re not being left out of this dance. They are now limited to a daily quota of 600 posts. And for the new kids on the block – accounts that haven’t yet been verified – the limit is even tighter at 300 posts per day.

What’s Next?

So, what does this all mean? It’s too soon to say. But it’s clear that Musk and Twitter are playing hardball with data scrapers and system manipulators. For us cyber sleuths, it’s a sign of changing times. So keep your ear to the ground and your eye on the posts – or, well, up to 6000 of them!
