The FBI wants to hold vacations plans of cybercriminals

Last month, the FBI stated that they will award 3 Million USD dollars to the person which is capable of providing information on the arrest of the Crypto Locker mastermind Evgeniy Bogachev. The FBI is trying to get a hold on vacation plans of cybercriminals, they need this information so they can arrest the cybercriminals in countries which will not defend the cybercriminals.

It has happened before

In 2012, a Russian cybercriminal was arrested in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The arrested Russian cybercriminal was later extradited to the United States. The same situation happened in the Maldives. The Maldives extradited an Russian cybercriminal to the United States after they had arrested the cybercriminal during his vacation.

Reasons why Russian cybercriminals leave Russia

The FBI claims that the Russian cybercriminals often leave Russia because of the hard weather. It can be very cold in Russia, and most of the Russian cybercriminals own a lot of money. The Russian cybercriminals use the money to go on holidays, parties and shopping.

The FBI hopes that the cybercriminals make a mistake and that is possible, but to be honest, that is not the most pro-active way to “catch” criminals.
