Russian Dark Web Selling Stolen Steam passwords for $15

Valve’s Steam stolen user credential and password is on sell by cyber criminals on Russian Dark Web.

The popular gaming and communications platform Steam have been developed by Valve Corporation, Valve developed video games like Counter-Strike series, Dota 2 ,Day of Defeat series ,Half-Life series ,Left 4 Dead series ,Portal series and Team Fortress series.

The Guardian report that have seen a post by a Dark web dealer on a Russian forum offering passwords and credentials of Steam users, harvested by botnets and malware of cyber criminals for about $15.

Valve announced launch of Steam OS Linux-based Steam Machines will be delayed until 2015 last week.

Recent report from the Guardian newspaper;

 We have seen a fair amount of Steam account data floating around on the black market. Because of ease of trafficking and its market value, Steam account data is a high-valued commodity,” said Alex Holden, chief information security officer at Hold Security.

To the best of our knowledge, most of the Steam accounts get stolen via botnets. However, in the past, we have seen exploitation attempts against the platform.
