Police shoot down suspect after attack with hammer at Notre-Dame in Paris

The police in Paris shot a man this afternoon who attacked an agent with a hammer at Notre-Dame, in the center of the French capital. The cathedral is currently closed. No one is allowed in or out of the church.

The police officer was injured when he was attacked by the man on the steps of the cathedral with a hammer. The agent immediately shot the attacker in the chest.

The suspect also carried some kitchen knives and other weapons besides a hammer.

The motive behind the act is not yet known, but the man would have called: “This is for Syria.” He acted alone according to the polic.
