Japanese police arrested a 14-year-old boy for developing and spreading ransomware

The Japanese police arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of developing ransomware. It is the first time that someone in Japan is arrested for ransomware.

The teenager would have used free encryption software to develop the ransomware. Meanwhile, he has admitted that he programmed ransomware.

He would have referred people to the ransomware via social media. As far as known, the ransomware, downloaded hundreds of times, has not caused any damaged.

The boy claimed that he wanted to become famous via his ransomware project.
