Iran Announce Helal Internet & Smart Filtering

Iran Minister of Communication and Information Technology told reporters that to end of this year national (Helal) internet covers major cities.

Iran have planed National (Helal) internet to avoid the difficulties of filtering by creating a nation intranet that conforms to Islamic Republic principles,Iran’s Supreme Leader in March 2012  told Iranian authorities to set up a body to monitor the Internet.

Minster Waezi told reporters on implementation of new  intelligent filtering of some moral site his ministry have signed contract with three Academic centers,however former minister Mr Jahangard announced last year that China will help Iran to implement its closed “National Information Network or clean Internet.

In recent weeks Iranain government has banned access to the Whatsapp messaging site because of its owned by Facebook and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and named him “Zionist”. After President Rouhani (Government of Hope and Prudence) took office in August 2013, not only has access to social media such as Facebook and Twitter not improved, but even access to many other Internet tools and networks such as VPN has been blocked.

Iran is using lawful intercept capabilities of telecommunications system to monitor communications by political dissidents on the Internet. A “monitoring center” installed by Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) for Iran telecom to intercepts Web-based communications and archives them for Iranian law enforcement officials.(Wiki)
