In this post I am going to teach you how to delete sitemaps in Google Webmaster. I wanted to delete my sitemaps in Google Webmaster, but I was not able to find it very quickly.
After some searching, I finally found the location in Google Webmaster which allows you to delete the sitemaps that you have provided.
How to delete sitemaps in Google Webmaster

In this short how to delete sitemaps in Google Webmaster tutorial, you will learn how to delete sitmaps without using Robots.txt. All of the steps that need to be performed, can be be done via the official Google Webmaster website.
- Login to Google Webmaster
Make sure that you are logged into your Google webmaster site
- Navigate to your sitemaps
Click on the sitemaps link in your Google webmaster menu. Once clicked, you will be directed to the page which holds all of your Google sitemaps.
- Select the sitemap you want to delete
Click on the sitemap, a new window will open.
- In the new sitemap window, navigate to the configuration logo
Navigate to the configuration logo, click on it, and click on ‘delete sitemap’
- Repeat the process
Repeat the process for all of the sitemaps which you want to have deleted.
If you have followed the guide correctly, you will notice, that the sitemaps that you have selected to be deleted, indeed have been deleted from your Google sitemaps account.
Why did I delete sitemaps
Some of the sitemaps were out-of-date, this was because I changed from my default SEO tool, to the Yoast SEO tool. Once I noticed that also the sitemap location has changed, I quickly modified my sitemaps overview in Google Sitemaps.
