Home Trust Mortgage hit by Ransomware attack

CYBERWARZONE – The Home Trust Mortgage company informed the Attorney General of Montana after they witnessed a successful ransomware attack on their networks.

According to the report provided by jdsupra, the attackers obtained data which contains personal information of Home Trust Mortgage clients. It is claimed that the data holds the names, addresses and the social security numbers.

The HomeTrust Mortgage investigated the incident with a third-party, after the investigation they were able to confirm that they had become victim of a ransomware attack. The cybercriminals gained unauthorized access to the network, and were able to alter and steal sensitive files. According to public details, 1.5GB of data has been stolen in this breach.
