HACKER altered LOTTERY COMPUTER and won 14.3 Million Dollar Jackpot

Gambling is often not done when you start as a security engineer at a company, but it seems that the information security director from Multi-State lottery Association decided that it was his turn to win the United States jackpot.

The former information security director had direct access to the lottery computers which do the calculations, and it seems that he has simply modified the values so that the chances will be higher for him to win the lottery.

The company which holds the lottery computers claims that the former information security director had gained access to the computer environment and that he had changed various settings which would guarantee the security of the lottery computers.

The company claims that the video recording settings of the environment were changed to show 1 picture a minute while it previously was set up to stream continuously. The environment which stored the lottery computers was spitted from the overall network. Meaning that it was only capable of gaining access to the lottery computers by being in the same room, and not over the internet.

The ex-security officer has been charged and the court still needs to make a call on this.
