If you are seeing “I’m safe” posts on your Facebook wall, then do not be shocked.
The “I am safe” posts which are being published on various Facebook accounts are activated after the Facebook user has clicked on the new “Safety Check Service” which has been launched for Nepal victims and people which are in the area of the earthquake.
This is not the first time that the Facebook Safety Check has been operational, the first time was during the 2011 Japan Tsunami.
You can download the tool for your Android and iOS device for free or you can simply check in at the “Safety Check” page on Facebook.
When activated, Safety Check locates Facebook users near a disaster site through the city they list on their profile, or from where they last used the Internet.
