Dutch Police student fired

The police student, who worked in the Amsterdam unit, is suspected of fornication with two underage girls aged 14 and 15 and of producing and possessing CP material. The incidents took place in the private environment of the police student. A criminal investigation has been carried out and the Public Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute the police student.

Following the criminal investigation, the Security, Integrity and Complaints team of the Police Services Center launched a disciplinary investigation. Police students come under the HRM Department of the Police Services Center and do a practical internship at a unit during their training.

The outcome of the disciplinary investigation was that there was serious dereliction of duty. The nature of the police work and the necessary trust in the police force mean that high demands may be made on the integrity and reliability of police employees. The police student’s actions have irreparably damaged this trust in him.
