Cyber Attack Hit Asian Data Center & Undersea Cable Operator

Asian Pacnet the operator of the underwater telecommunications cables which was recently bought by Australian telecom giant Telstra was under cyber attack and may have leaked thousands of its customers critical information ,report media.

Pacnet owns thousand miles of underwater cables in the Asia and provides VPN services in China ,unknown people behind the cyber attack gained access to Pacnet’s corporate network through a SQL vulnerability that enabled malicious software to be uploaded to the network and ultimately led to the theft of administration and user credentials including the Australian Federal Police.

Telstra’s network was not connected to Pacnet and has not been affected by the hacking.
