[BREAKING] SEA hacked Reuters full review

The Syrian Electronic Army has hacked the Reuters news publishing website, the SEA left a message on the website of the defaced Reuters site.

The message stated that “Reuters, should stop publishing fake reports and false articles about Syria, the UK government is supporting the terrorists in Syria to destroy it”.

The Syrian Electronic Army found a expoit in the Taboola provider, which allowed them to deface the Reuters website and many other sites.

The malicious code which was injected in the Taboola provider allowed the Syrian Electronic Army to redirect visitors to a specific website.

SEA hacked Reuters

The Syrian Electronic Army could have gone a step further, by infecting the visitors of the redirected website. This would allow them to bring chaos to the Reuters internet community. Frederic Jacobs, provided a report on the Syrian Electronic Army attack which provides insight on the malicious codes which were used in the Reuters hack.
