Why you should block lifehacĸer.com in Google Analytics

Beware, a Russian referrer spammer has registered various domains that use special figures – with those special figures the spammer is able to register domains like lifehacĸer.com.

The spam run is being performed by the spammer in order to trigger you to visit the site. The attention which the spammer can generate can be massive but it is not harmful in any way to your environment.

The only thing it brings harm to is the analytics data and that can be fixed by adding a simple filter rule in your Google Analytics account.

The spammer uses the following URLs in the spam run (this is just a small portion):

  • hxxp://o-o-8-o-o.com/
  • hxxp://lifehacĸer.com/new-revolutionary-shell-from-lifehacĸer.com/
  • Vitaly rules google ☆*:。

If you want to filter the spam run from your analytics data, then simply use the following steps:

Go to admin and click on Filters in your Google Analytics Account, once you are in the filter screen, click on the add filter button, this will open a new screen that will allow you to create a new exclude filter.

Click on the custom filter type and search for the filter field, then select campaign source in the list. Once you are in the next step, make sure that you click on the Filtter pattern box and insert the mentioned domains (lifehacĸer.com and o-o-8-o-o.com) to the filter pattern text box. Once you are done, click on the save button. Repeat this step for future spam runs or domains that you want to exclude from your analytics data.
