Oman is an Arab state in southwest Asia on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula.Oman is among the very few Arab countries that have maintained friendly ties with Iran.Oman is an absolute monarchy in which the Sultan of Oman exercises ultimate authority .

The 2-day summit discussed the Sultanate's role as an important regional centre in cyber security by inviting international experts and speakers in this regard to know about experiences of other countries and learn from them.published ONA official Oman government news agency.

Ibrahim al-Hadad, Director of the ITU Arab Regional Office said that the importance of this conference comes from the Sultanate's keenness on cyber security as it has early realized the importance of telecommunication networks in improving services and knowledge-based economy. For this purpose the Sultanate has established OCERT which is very qualified to trace locations of e-attacks and destroy them.

He said in a press statement that the Sultanate's strategic location qualifies it to be a regional centre for cyber security as undersea internet cables responsible for connecting internet networks starts from the Sultanate before diverging into the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf.

The Sultanate can also do this role as it has the expertise and skilled human resources and the know-how which qualify it to train human resources in other states that do not have yet the appropriate cyber security measures.

On her side Aziza bint Sultan al-Rashdiya, Awareness in-Charge at OCERT, Director of conference management said that the conference as result of OCERT realization of the importance of cyber security in the Sultanate, expertise exchanging with international specialists participating in the conference, discussing the latest developments in this regard, as the recent years have seen a great development in the nature of e-attacks which requires from all concerned governmental establishments an infrastructure institutions in every state to revise their strategies in this field.

Today's first session discussed the means to adopt an intelligent and advanced argument that focuses on prevention rather than cure, how to effectively work together so that establishments are well ahead of hackers and control the rules of the game.

The second session discussed an assessment for security risks and the impact of SCADA networks, as SCADA networks is considered an important element in operating the sensitive industrial infrastructures.

The third session discussed the steps that should be followed to trace hackers and take appropriate measures against them.

The fourth session discussed the security challenges and how the public sector transports cloud data as this application is less costly but highly vulnerable to hackers.

The fifth and last session discussed management of secure organizational applications.
