Cybercriminals are using famous rappers to install malware on unaware internet users. The latest hoax which has been spreading on the internet is the ‘[Shocking Video] Rappers Rick Ross & P Diddy admits that they are GAY and HAPPY!’ hoax which claims that Rick Ross and P Diddy admitted that they are gay. Earlier cybercriminals launched a similar hoax which affected the rapper Lil Wayne.
The users on the social media networks are lured by a video titled ‘[Shocking Video] Rappers Rick Ross & P Diddy admits that they are GAY and HAPPY!’. The message contains the following thumbnail which will make the unaware internet users to believe that it is a official video.
Once the users tries to play the malicious video on the website, the user will be stopped and forced to enter a survey to ‘verify their account’. This is a method used by cybercriminals to earn a revenue from the hoaxes and malware that they share on the internet. Once a malicious application has been installed on the victim computer the cybercriminal will be able to take full control of the computer. Allowing it to use new private pictures of the victims to start a new hoax.
