The Hague, September 8, 2010 - The court in The Hague sentenced a 39-year-old former information detective from the police of Rotterdam-Rijnmond. The court sentenced him to the maximum community service of 240 hours. This is because he passed information from the computer systems of the police to a third party.
The third party promised him good prospects in the future.
The ex-detective has in February 2006 to March 2008 at the request of a member of the Moroccan Embassy in the Netherlands people checked in the computer systems of the police and the information passed to the embassy staff. The embassy staff had told the detective that interrogation of the computer to do with terrorism, arms trafficking or actions against the King of Morocco.
The court found that the former detective, given the seriousness of the offense, an unconditional sentence should get. Like the prosecutor, the court a sentence in this case, however, an excessive punishment, but an appropriate community service.
