Zombie computer: part of a botnet
A zombie is the name given to computers that have been infected by viruses that allow spammers and hackers to use it to distribute unsolicited email (spam), worms or viruses to other computers. Computers become a Zombie when the user open an infected email, or click on a link to an unreliable website or use some infected software.
Most users of zombie computers are unaware that their system is being used in this way. without notice that their broadband connection speed is low and getting replies to spam email they haven’t sent. The computer has been compromised by a computer virus or a Trojan horse a Hacker.
A zombie computer can be used to conduct distributed Denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
