Bluetooth violation against Personal Information Protection.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The Dutch traffic service is going to implement a structure that will allow the VID and RWS to view the traffic situation with the help of Bluetooth.

By applying Bluetooth boxes along the highways N-VID calculates the exact travel time of motorists between those boxes. As around 35 percent of the cars in this way can be detected, not only offers a look at the road situation, but also on the real journey.

But this is against the law (WBP) this law defends the privacy rights of the Dutch citizens.

RWS wants to use the Bluetooth connection from road users to gather information. But they do this without letting the driver know. So this is against the WBP. They also claim that they will “destroy” the data after it is collected.

The VID confirmed that the road users don’t know that the organisation is using their Bluetooth device. VID representative said that you can’t see where he lives, what the mobile number is and who he is.

They have tested this product neer Almere, Bodegraven and Schiphol.

RWS also wants to enable Bluetooth for constructions on the road.
