Hackers clone their victim their life

Cybercrime is getting bigger, stronger and faster as we talk. Diana Solomon is one of the victims of cybercrime. The hackers got acces to her e-mail account. And claimed that she needed money.

What Happend?

Diane Solomon was on her way from her Santa Clarita home to a run/walk at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum earlier this month when her smartphone alerted her to an e-mail received on her work account - sent from her own personal e-mail address.

According to the e-mail, titled "MY PLIGHT!!!" Solomon was currently stranded in Europe after being robbed at gunpoint. She didn't have any money, her cell phone wasn't working, and she needed 1,500 pounds to be wired to the U.K. to get back to the States.

Within minutes, she began receiving concerned texts and e-mails from some of the 400 contacts in her Yahoo! e-mail account.

"I'm talking to you on Facebook right now," one neighbor wrote in a text.

Solomon didn't have a Facebook account. Whoever had hacked into her e-mail had used pictures in the account to make a Facebook page for her and was pleading for her friends to send money.

Solomon's ordeal typifies a scam that has been growing in frequency over the last several years as the overall rate of Internet crime has jumped dramatically.

Cybersecurity Straight Talk: Beyond Digital Armageddon

The political public debate over U.S. cybersecurity policy over the last few years has produced chilling sound bites like "electronic Pearl Harbor," "digital Armageddon," and even "cyber 9/11."  And despite the clarion calls for "action" that inevitably flow from these phrases, such heated rhetoric does not lend itself to nuanced and focused policymaking.  Perhaps that's why I found my attention riveted on the keynote address given by Scott Charney, vice president, Microsoft Trustworthy Computing at the Business Software Alliance cybersecurity conference on April 30th.

In his speech, Charney proceeded to peel back the layers on the disconnect among the various stakeholders within the cybersecurity community, what they need, and how to get it, in the most level-headed analysis of the cybersecurity landscape that I've heard in a long time.

National Security Strategy 2010

Cyberwarfare, (sometimes referred to as "cyberwar" and "cyber warfare,") is the use of computers and the Internet to conduct warfare incyberspace. One U.S. agency, the Joint Forces Command, describes some of its attributes:

Cyberspace technology is emerging as an "instrument of power" in societies, and is becoming more available to a country's opponents, who may use it to attack, degrade, and disrupt communications and the flow of information. With low barriers to entry, coupled with the anonymous nature of activities in cyberspace, the list of potential adversaries is broad. Furthermore, the globe-spanning range of cyberspace and its disregard for national borders will challenge legal systems and complicate a nation's ability to deter threats and respond to contingencies

First U.S. Cyber Command and First U.S. CYBERCOM Commander

U.S. Department of Defense
Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Public Affairs) in his immidiate news releas published Secretary of Defense Robert M.Gates announced today Army Gen. Keith B. Alexander’s appointment as the first U.S. Cyber Command commander, officially establishing the initial operating capability for the new command.  The announcement comes immediately following Alexander’s promotion to receive his fourth star during a ceremony at Fort Meade, Md.

Given our increasing dependency on cyberspace, this new command will bring together the resources of the department to address vulnerabilities and meet the ever-growing array of cyber threats to our military systems,” said Gates.

Pentagon Searches for ‘Digital DNA’ to Identify Hackers

One of the trickiest problems in cyber security is trying to figure who’s really behind an attack. Darpa, the Pentagon agency that created the Internet, is trying to fix that, with a new effort to develop the “cyber equivalent of fingerprints or DNA” that can identify even the best-cloaked hackers.

Fortis Bank website unsecure

Fortis Bank Nederland, full-out "Fortis Bank Nederland (Holding) N.V.", is a bank of Netherlands.

The holding came into being within Fortis Bank, as a holding for those Dutch banks taken over by Fortis. In September-October 2008, the Dutch government first planned to invest €4 billion in exchange for an almost-50% interest in the holding (in newly-to-be-issued shares), but within a week the agreement was cancelled. The Dutch government took over all the Dutch parts of Fortis for a total of €16.8 billion; in this take-over, Fortis Bank Nederland was valued at €5 billion.

Later, Fortis Bank Nederland came in the news because it had lost €1 billion in the Madoff investment scandal. In March 2009, it reported that over 2008 it had booked an operational profit of €0.6 billion; this excluded (massive) write-offs.
